HUDSON SOFT/RED
10 JULY 1993
Offshoot of the series, centering on the crazy Kabuki. Gameplay is much the same as Maru, and so is the menu system, which is difficult to suss out for non-Japanese speakers. Even those with a little Japanese knowledge may find it tricky as they’re all in Kanji - no easy reading katakana here, I’m afraid. Anyway, it’s your standard kind of RPG - lots of leveling up needed so prepare for some long hours of doing nothing much. To keep the interest up are a few intros dotted around here and there, all of which are high quality. If you managed to get through Maru, then this is pretty much a continuation - but if you can’t read Japanese then it seems a little like just going through the motions.
GRAPHICS: Lovely intros, but the in game graphics are a little simple. Bright and colourful though.
SOUND: Nothing vastly outstanding, but perfectly acceptable.
