HUDSON SOFT
31 OCTOBER 1989
Based on the Kid’s anime about a robot cat, Doraemon is a sort of Bomber Man in reverse. Instead of planting bombs, you dig holes in the ground to trap enemies, then fill them in to finish them off. Its a very pleasant game with some corking tunes and is a lot of fun to play. On the easiest setting it’s a bit of a breeze and can get a little tedious, but a harder setting gives you more of a challenge, and the password save is essential. There are a selection of different levels that alternate for variety, and the occasional boss thrown in for good measure.
GRAPHICS: Really nice, given the limited overhead viewpoint, and a good cartoony intro for a Hu-card.
SOUND: Sound is generally ‘soft’ but the tunes are catchy and memorable, especially the oriental stage.
